Non-Linear Film
A story, told in parallel...
MovieGame is a method of creating an interactive film using non-linear procedurally-controlled editing in a video game environment. It allows visual content to play continuously, independent of user interactivity.
MovieGame follows a simple rule of production: every part of it must be both a film and a video game. This limits the use of head's up displays (HUD), idle animation cycles, and in-game menus as well as long establishing shots, linear storylines, and cinematic stylism.
MovieGame borrows heavily from film noir. Since it's 100% game, every shot is interactive. Because it's 100% movie, it keeps playing regardless of viewer participation.
